DARWIN PROJECT PRESENTED AT THE VLOG’S FORUM 2024

ODD-GUNNAR WIKMARK, PROJECT COORDINATOR, PRESENTED DARWIN AS PART OF THE VLOG'S FORUM 2024, HELD IN BERLIN ON JUNE 20.

The DARWIN partner VLOG (Association for Food without Genetic Engineering) organized this annual expert event gathering panel guests from different sectors, from industry to politics and research.

This year’s focus was on the current debate on new genetic engineering, detection research on genetic engineering, the business initiative for freedom of choice, and insights into the current market, along with the celebration of the 15th anniversary of the “Ohne GenTechnik” seal, launched by the German Federal Minister of Agriculture, Ilse Aigner, in 2009 – which currently labels more than 16,000 products.

In this context, DARWIN’s project coordinator Odd-Gunnar Wikmark presented the project’s research and objectives in the panel bringing together high-level guests from industry, politics, and research to raise awareness on this highly debated topic.

The conference gathered an audience of 100 agri-food operators and specific end-users approximately.

These are relevant occasions for DARWIN project to be part of the debate on genetic engineering and ensure transparency across the food chain by providing evidence-based knowledge for consumers, decision-makers, and potential new labelling approaches.
